1. What are the hours of operation at the Transfer Station in International Falls ?

Monday – Friday  9am to 4pm

Saturday  9am – 1pm

Closed  Sunday

3. What can I put in the recycle trailers?

Recyclables accepted in the trailers are office and newspaper, #1 and #2 plastics, tin and aluminum cans. Plastic bags are not allowed in the trailers so PLEASE empty your bags and place them in the trash. Cardboard is NOT accepted in the recycle trailers.

4. Where do I get a building permit?

If you live within city limits of a town in Koochiching County you need to see your city office. If you live outside city limits you would come to our office located on the first floor of the courthouse. For zoning and permit questions you can contact Environmental Services (218) 283-1157.

5. What can I do with my hazardous waste?

The county provides two hazardous waste collections annually. Residential hazardous waste is collected free of charge at the spring and fall collection. We also commercial hazardous waste by appointment during our fall collection. The county hires WLSSD to provide these collections.
