| Lawmen and a Ranier resident involved in a February
rescue of five snowmobilers who drove into open water near Ranier
were given awards Thursday by Koochiching County Sheriff Duane Nelson.
They were (from left) International Falls Police Patrolman Michael
Lee, Sheriff’s Deputy John Kalstad, Minnesota State Trooper
Gary Harms, Sheriff’s Deputy James Kennedy II and local resident
Murray Gushulak. The plaques read “In recognition of your
bravery exhibited on Feb. 28, 2003, which resulted in the successful
rescue of five individuals from the icy waters of Rainy Lake.” |
